Comms rack remediation and re-labelling

The problem

An unlabelled rack that had grown organically over several years. Nobody could trace a cable end to end, so a single dead wall port meant unplugging things to find out what they did.

What we did

We mapped every run before touching anything, re-terminated the patch panel, replaced the cabling with correct-length leads, and labelled both ends of every link against a floor plan.

The outcome

Faults that previously required trial and error are now traced in under a minute, and the documentation was handed over as a printed sheet inside the rack door.

Before — no labelling, no cable management, no way to trace a run

After — organised, labelled and accessible

The rack had been added to roughly once a year for most of a decade. Every addition was reasonable on its own; the accumulation was not.

The work itself is unglamorous — most of it is spent identifying what each cable does before removing it — but it converts an unknown quantity into a documented one. That is the actual deliverable, and the tidy photograph is just the side effect.

Not sure what's wrong? Neither were most of our customers.
