Privacy policy

What we collect

When you submit the contact form we collect your name, email address, optional phone number, and whatever you write in the message. That is the only personal information this website asks for.

The site does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies. If a live chat widget is added later, this section will be updated to say what it collects.

What we do with it

We use it to respond to your enquiry and, if you become a customer, to carry out the work you have asked for. We do not sell it, and we do not add you to a mailing list you did not ask to join.

Data on devices we service

Repairing a computer often means having access to the files on it. We access only what the repair requires, we do not copy your data anywhere except where a backup or transfer is part of the job you have agreed to, and any working copies we make are deleted once the job is complete and you have confirmed the data is intact.

If we encounter material we are legally obliged to report, we will report it. That is the one exception to the above and it is not negotiable.

How long we keep it

Enquiry emails are retained for two years. Job records, including what was done to a device, are retained for seven years for warranty and tax purposes. Data recovered or transferred as part of a job is deleted from our equipment once you confirm the transfer succeeded.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing sales@yyycomputer.com.au. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle a privacy matter you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
